Rakhi is an ancient tradition celebrated in the east. It quite literally means the eternal bond. In this holiday, threads of love - also called Rakhi - are tied around the wrists of brothers by their sisters as a symbol of their affection. Traditionally, this holiday was celebrated for the wellbeing of brothers, since women were usually not “sent out in the world.” A lot has changed since.
Keeping traditions alive while modernizing it in a way that made sense, on this holiday we celebrate all special bonds in our life; the unbreakable bond of sisterhood, the bond between family and friends, and the bond of humanity that unites us all.
We are super excited to support and collaborate with Himalayan Blooms, a non-profit social enterprise that works towards empowerment of women. Each rakhi is hand crafted in the village of Khetikhan, Uttarakhand by a local artisan. She then handwrites her name on packaging so that you know exactly who crafted your product.
