Story of How This Hot Chocolate was Born!

The year is 2008. An immigrant couple working tirelessly in corporate jobs in NYC shared love and passion for fine cacao.

At the end of stressful days, they found comfort in their own creation of drinking chocolate. Her creation magically turned into a thick, rich and yummy cocoa on cold evenings. The taste nourished their bodies and its smooth velvety texture greased their conversations. She crafted this cacao by keeping the fruit's natural, healthy fat—a tradition conveniently forgotten by dairy engineers in pursuit of ‘everything instant’.

There were no unpronounceable ingredients, only plant-based goodness made with the finest cacao, directly sourced from farmers in Ecuador. To this, she added functional superfoods that provided health benefits without compromising flavor.

We’re Alak and Kushal, founders of Elements. We made this cacao for ourselves, and now, we’re proud to bring it to you.

Elements approaches cacao like food, not candy. They source from regions they work directly with farmers to monitor and improve soild conditions and test regularly for heavy metals.

Premium cacao that is tested safe for heavy metals like lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic

Our cacao is free from Lead. We also regularly test for Mercury and Arsenic. We have none of them either. There is trace Cadmium in the cacao per our periodic testing (the last report came from labs in Feb 2023) yet our end products are below the Prop 65 approved thresholds. In other words, if we were tested in the Consumer Report, we would have passed on both counts. Read our blog for more technical details.

Chocolate forward with a hint of sweet - creamy and smooth, and so much better than typical hot chocolate. And you can't beat "Ayurveda Powered." I'm treating my body well while having a little treat. The gift box was gorgeous, and it was fun to try all of the varieties. I was pleasantly surprised by the rose cocoa mix. I'm generally not a fan of "rose" anything, but this was possibly my favorite, along with the turmeric (always a fan of turmeric). I've had the Ashwaganda variety before, and loved it. The peppermint mix could use a touch more mint, but not a deal breaker. Highly recommend.

Great stuff

Hadn't heard of this brand until the good folks over at VegNews offered it up as a recommendation, so I decided to give it a try. While others in my household felt it necessary to load it up with sugar, I personally enjoyed it as is. I don't have an incredibly massive sweet tooth, so finding a lightly sweet treat that's also tasty is incredibly difficult sometimes. This is just right for me. And if you want to add sugar, that's fine too! It doesn't ruin the experience in any way. Just adjusts it to your taste buds. To be honest, I would recommend these drinking cocoas just for the incredibly silky mouth feel alone. When you read that description on the package, you are always left wondering, "how smooth?" or "how creamy?" I can promise you as smooth and creamy as you'd ever want. Plus, the assortment of flavors allows you to change things up daily, if you want. I've been rotating the flavors, and I can't say I've found one I prefer over another. Maybe peppermint because I'm partial to chocolate and peppermint, but it's not an overpowering peppermint flavor either which I don't mind. So I'm not sure. All of this to say, I would recommend this to anyone looking for healthier options or even cocoa enthusiasts.

Such a sweet little treat box

I’m dairy-free and have been searching for a decent alternative for a long time. This hot chocolate is perfection! It’s so rich and creamy that my son thought I accidentally made regular hot chocolate. It’s incredibly smooth, chocolaty, and satisfying. I love that you can mix it with any hot liquid or even water. It has been a delightful treat to bring to work instead of coffee in the mornings during this holiday season.

Uplifting yet soothing

So far, I’ve tried the turmeric cocoa mix and I really like it a lot. I heat soy milk and whisk it in. The taste is so smooth and chocolatey. If I have a cup in the afternoon, it’s a pick-me-up; when I have it before bed, it’s calming. I intended to give a couple of the mixes as gifts, but I just might keep them . . .
